LINCOMYCIN Capsule

In the treatment of various serious infectious diseases, including genital infections, infections of the lungs, ears, skin, mouth, teeth and bones.

Posology

Adult: 1 capsule, 3-4 times a day.

Child: 30-60mg/kg/day.

Do not stop taking LINCOMYCIN 500mg capsules because you feel better. It is important to take the capsules for as long as the doctor has told you to, otherwise the problem might come back.

Way of administration

Oral route.

Take capsules with a glass of water, 1-2 hours before or after meals.

Duration of treatment

To be effective, this drug should be used regularly, at the prescribed doses and as long as your doctor has advised.

- allergy to lincosamides (Clindamycin, Lincomycin),

- lactation

- meningeal infections, even if sensitive bacteria, are not an indication, due to poor dissemination of antibiotic in CSF.

Esophagitis, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Allergic skin reaction, angioedema.

Few abnormal blood count.

- You should respect a period of 2 hours between taking this medication and antacid containing aluminium.

- Precautions must be taken in case of concomitant treatment by curarizing agent or Erythromycin.

Pregnancy

Limited information is available regarding the effect of this drug during pregnancy: only your doctor can assess the potential risk of its use in your case.

Lactation

This medication passes into breast milk, a choice is necessary between breastfeeding and taking the medication. This decision will be made in consultation with your doctor.

- Be careful, if diarrhoea occurs, visit your doctor and do not continue treatment without his agreement. Diarrhea may also occur in the weeks after treatment; urgent medical advice is needed. Avoid self-medication by an antidiarrheal: it could be dangerous.

- Caution is needed in cases of asthma or other allergies.

- Adjust dose in patients with renal or hepatic failure.

This drug is an antibiotic belonging to a group called the lincosamides.
